H.E Dr. Nujoma Applauds IUM’s Growth
H.E Dr. Sam Nujoma addressing the IUM 13th Graduation Ceremony
The IUM 13TH Graduation Ceremony which was held on 29 September 2017 marked another significant milestone in its history. The graduation ceremony saw a total of over 2500 students from 19 different countries, including students from all IUM Campuses, receiving Higher Diplomas, Honours Degree and Master Degrees.
Since its inception, the University has grown and continued to contribute to the nation’s economic and social pillars by providing quality tertiary education. The Class of 2017 thus departed highly trained, well skilled, prepared and ready to render much-needed services in the society.
His Excellency, Dr. Sam Nujoma, Founding President and Father of the Namibian Nation in his keynote address commended IUM for taking up the challenge in 2002 through his invitation to the Private Sector to join with the government to make Namibia an education-driven and knowledge-based economy.
He further stated that as a private sector initiative and 100% Namibian investment, the Namibian nation is proud to witness and share in IUM’s success because the University not only trains Namibians but also provides employment to hundreds of Namibians and non-Namibians which is a laudable effort and should be appreciated by everyone.
In his remarks, Honourable Dr. David R. Namwandi, Founder and Chairperson of the IUM Governing Council noted that despite adversaries and the economic downturn, IUM has continued to grow in leaps and bounds.
The Founder and Chair further highlighted that the University was on a sacred mission; a mission to prepare its students to participate in civil societies which are both dynamic and make meaningful contributions to impact positively on the lives of others.
