TeProD, a research Project of which The International University of Management (IUM) is a member, successfully hosted a Digital Innovation and Sustainability Workshop on Thursday, 26 February 2026, under the theme “Empowering Academics for Digital Innovation and a Sustainable Community.”
Co-funded by the European Union, the project is rolling out capacity-building workshops for lecturers and students across Sub-Saharan African higher education institutions. Guided by a twin-transition approach, the initiative strengthens both digital and green competencies among lecturers and students.
The interactive workshop equipped participants with practical skills to integrate technology and sustainable approaches in teaching, learning, assessment and research. A key highlight was a panel discussion featuring experts from industry and academia, with discussion centred on responsible and ethical use of digital tools, data-driven innovation and green initiatives. Panellists stressed the importance of collaboration between universities as well as embracing and integrating technologies into teaching, learning and assessment.
Overall, the workshop underscored the vital role of higher education institutions in promoting responsible and ethical use of digital tools and green initiatives.
