The Writing Unit

ABOUT US

The IUM Writing Unit is a key component of the IUM Centre for Languages and Communication, created to help students develop and apply language skills, enabling them to complete their studies on time. It is also accessible to the entire IUM community.

The unit offers one-on-one, half-hour teaching and learning sessions, where students work closely with consultants throughout the writing process. While walk-ins are welcome if a consultant is available, students are encouraged to BOOK APPOINTMENTS ONLINE USING THE BOOKING FORM. The Writing Unit focuses on teaching students to write independently, rather than providing proofreading or editing services.

2. WORKSHOPS

We design and deliver writing-related workshops tailored specifically to the needs of our participants. These
workshops are organised upon request and are carefully made to address the particular areas of concern
highlighted in reports submitted by our staff. By focusing on the issues identified through these reports, we
ensure that the workshops are relevant and impactful, directly targeting the skills and challenges that
require attention. Our aim is to provide meaningful support that enhances the writing abilities of our students
and staff, thereby contributing to their overall academic and professional development
