On October 3rd, The International University of Management (IUM) proudly launched IUM Radio, broadcasting on FM 94.5 and online at www.iumradio.com.na.
This new station, inaugurated alongside the IUM Graduate School of Business, serves to amplify the voices of Namibian leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators. The expansion into broadcasting is a testament to IUM’s ongoing commitment to accessible, impactful education and active community engagement across Namibia.
The launch event was not only a celebration but also a moment of recognition for key contributors to IUM Radio’s success, particularly Mr. Roger Gerts. Dr. Namwandi took the opportunity to honor Mr. Roger Gerts for his pivotal role in conceptualizing and establishing the radio station. He shared with the audience, “The establishment of this radio station was a demanding task. When we were setting up, Mr. Roger Gerts provided invaluable ideas on how to make it a reality. Today, we have IUM Radio because of his support, and for that, we are forever grateful.” Dr. Namwandi further stated, “For your service in helping us establish a platform that will serve as the university’s voice, we will always remember you. Your name will be etched in the golden pages of this institution’s history.”
IUM Radio is much more than just a broadcast platform. Positioned as the “Voice of the People, Steering Conversation,” it is a dynamic channel for knowledge dissemination, community empowerment, and social advancement. The station is dedicated to fostering educational discourse, showcasing local innovations, and highlighting solutions to societal challenges. This aligns perfectly with IUM’s vision as a demand-driven and listening university—responsive to the needs and aspirations of the Namibian public.
During the launch, Dr. Namwandi also took a moment to pay homage to the legacy of Guglielmo Marconi, the 19th-century inventor whose pioneering work in radio communication laid the foundation for the global radio industry. This historical connection underscores IUM’s latest venture as part of a broader tradition of innovation that aims to improve lives and communities.
With a focus on promoting educational dialogue and providing a platform for local voices, IUM Radio stands as a beacon of empowerment. Through constructive conversations, it seeks to contribute to Namibia’s development, advancing the country’s journey toward inclusivity, prosperity, and social change.
