Welcome to the Department of Indigenous and Foreign Languages at IUM. We offer Indigenous Languages as well as Foreign Languages such as French and German as part of our selected Bachelor’s degree programmes.

All these languages are offered as key modules in educational programmes at the junior primary, senior primary, and secondary school levels. At the bachelor’s degree level, they are taught from Year 1 to Year 4, while at the diploma level, instruction spans from Year 1 to Year 3. To qualify for language enrolment in either the diploma or bachelor’s programme, applicants must have a background in the language of their choice. A minimum of a grade C or better in Grade 11 or Grade 12 (AS level), or Grade 12 (Ordinary or Higher level under the old curriculum), is required. For those applying through the mature age entry route, the minimum requirement is a D symbol in Grade 10 for the home language or the language of choice.
