IUM Appoints a substantive Vice Chancellor

The International University of Management (IUM) announces the appointment of Professor Osmund Damian Mwandemele as the substantive Vice Chancellor of IUM with effect from 1st August 2023.

Prof. Mwandemele holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters of Science in Plant Breeding from the University of Dar es Salaam. In 1983 he obtained his PhD in Agricultura Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of Sydney, Australia. Prof. Mwandemele brings with him a wealth of experience accumulated over years working at various Universities including the University of University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Egerton University in Kenya, University of Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa and the University of Namibia to mention but a few.

He is currently serving on the Ashinaga Kenjin-Tatsujin International Advisory Council. Ashinaga is a Japanese NGO based in Tokyo, Japan, which provides educational support to disadvantaged orphaned youths throughout the world, providing opportunities to them through quality education in premier universities worldwide. He also serves as the Member of the Board of the Joint South African Ministry of Science and Technology and National Research Foundation (DST-NRF) Centre of Excellence in IKS based at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal (UKZ), South Africa, 2014-to-date.

Introducing Prof. Mwandemele to the IUM family, Prof. David Richard Namwandi IUM Founder and Council Chair said that it is the conviction of the IUM Governing Council that “Prof. Mwandemele renown scholar of note will elevate IUM to the highest academic level”.
