Transformative Workshop on Leadership and Management for Academic Leaders

On 21 July 2025, academic leaders from the School of Primary Education, and the School of Secondary and Postgraduate Education across IUM campuses participated in a transformative hybrid Management Workshop – held online and in person at Dorado Park Campus.

The workshop featured transformative sessions led by renowned leadership and management experts, namely; Dr. Chrisna von Gericke-Fourie, Co-Founder and Director of Training at the African Leadership Institute (ALI), and Mr. Tarah Shaanika, Chief Executive Officer of Namibia Asset Management.

Dr. Chrisna facilitated interactive sessions on Proactive Leadership, Conflict Management, and Effective Monitoring. Mr. Shaanika delivered an insightful presentation on Leadership Skills for navigating through ever-changing and unpredictable leadership dynamics.

Through these engaging sessions, participants gained practical insights for enhancing their communication, demonstrate emotional intelligence, foster trust and make strategic decisions grounded on ethical leadership. Other key focus areas included succession planning, effective delegation, mentoring, and empowering leaders to guide their teams towards growth and realisation of their fullest potential. Overall, the workshop ignited a renewed commitment to servant leadership where true leaders serve, positively influence, and empower others with a sense of humility and integrity in pursuit of achieving the set vision.
