The International University of Management (IUM) hosted its heart-warming Alumni Homecoming Gala Dinner on 26 October 2024, a memorable evening that coincided with the celebration of IUM’s 30th Anniversary. This special event gathered esteemed alumni, students, and distinguished guests, including former Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and other high-profile dignitaries.
During the evening, Dr. Frieda Shimbuli took to the podium to introduce the IUM Alumni Scholarship Fund, a transformative initiative aimed at providing less privileged and marginalised students with greater access to education. The fund was then officially launched by Hon. Prof. Dr. David R. Namwandi, Founder and Chairman of the IUM Governing Council. Prof. Namwandi passionately spoke of the importance of giving back, sharing his belief that true wealth lies in the impact one leaves behind. He encouraged guests to “make a difference by giving with an open and pure heart,” reminding everyone that generosity has a lasting effect and is a blessing.
At the close of the ceremony, IUM Alumni Events Officer, Taleni Matheus, acknowledged that while the NAD 5 million target for the IUM Alumni Scholarship Fund was still a distance away, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who had contributed so far. She encouraged Namibian corporate world and individuals to continue their support, emphasizing that every contribution brings the goal closer and empowers future generations.
The Alumni Homecoming Gala Dinner exemplified the spirit of IUM—a commitment to unity, community, and creating a legacy of support that empowers future generations.
