FACULTY OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

1 X LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST/CONSULTANT (MULTI CAMPUS)

BACKGROUND

The International University of Management (IUM) is a leading private university with five campuses, namely, Dorado Park Campus, Eenhana Campus, Nkurenkuru Campus, Ongwediva Campus and Coastal Campus. The University has also built a state-of-the-art Research, Training, and Conference Centre at the coastal town of Swakopmund. IUM is committed to advancing knowledge and contributing to national and regional socio-economic transformation through education, research, and innovation, in line with Vision 2030, the Fourth Industrial Revolutions Agenda, the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) and the government’s focus on agricultural value-chain development to enhance food security and food self-sufficiency. To achieve this, IUM intends to expand its teaching, research, and training portfolio to include applied sciences, technology, engineering, and agriculture including agro-processing.

IUM recently acquired highly specialised and sophisticated laboratory equipment for teaching, training, and research. Thus, IUM would like to engage a highly qualified Laboratory Technologist/Consultant to provide services relating to the installation of the highly specialised and sophisticated laboratory equipment at the IUM Swakopmund Research, Training, and Conference Centre as well as at Eenhana Campus, Dorado Park Campus and other IUM campuses, and ensure that such equipment function up to international standards.

 

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in natural or physical sciences.
  • Not less than 10 years of experience working in higher education or research institutions laboratories.
  • Demonstrate expertise in infrastructure planning, laboratory, and facility design.
  • Ability to assess suitable teaching and research equipment, including calibration (where applicable and possible) and installation of the equipment.
  • Candidates must be multilingual. Knowledge of the Chinese language will be an advantage considering that the specialised equipment was sourced from China.

1 X head: quality assurance management (DORADO CAMPUS)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop overall Quality Assurance system for the International University of Management, including policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, promotion, improvement and review IUM’s total quality management system to ensure achievement of institutional goals and objectives.
  • Formulate implementation strategies and co-ordinate the implementation of Quality Assurance measures relating to (a) academic matters and research, (b) administration and management, and (c) student registration and assessments.
  • Formulate Monitoring and Evaluation strategies, reporting procedures, and indicators for Quality Assurance, including human resources requirements.
  • Provide advice to facilitate good governance and quality management procedures that will support educational programmes, skills training and staff development to contribute to the achievement of the university’s objectives.
  • Coordinate institutional self-evaluation reporting and provide advice to different Management levels on performance, compliance, training and development needs to enhance efficiency.
  • Liaise with National Council of Higher Education (NCHE), Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA), and other authorities to facilitate IUM’s quality assurance obligations.
  • Develop written instruments to collect and interpret functional impact of training programmes, including tools to assess programmes, instructional materials, and delivery.
  • Oversee the review of existing IUM qualifications in consultations with faculties and relevant stakeholders and advise on areas where changes are needed to improve relevance, efficiency, value, & performance.
  • Facilitate the process of periodical institution audits by external QA Agencies as determined by accreditation intervals programme accreditation cycle.
  • Attend Senate meetings as member.

 

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • At least a Master’s Degree in Education with Curriculum & Educational Development or equivalent qualification, a PhD will be an added advantage.
  • Ten (10) years working experience in the education sector or industry of which at least five (5) years should have been in Quality management or related field.
  • Sound working knowledge of the legal framework for quality assurance in higher education with an understanding and application of statistics and computer applications.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills; excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills; a sharp eye for details, good interpersonal skills with high level of emotional intelligence, and be willing to work under extra hours under pressure to meet deadlines whenever necessary.
  • Should be computer literate.

 

1 X ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (DORADO CAMPUS)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes and maintains up to date library materials.
  • Executes day-to-day activities within the library by receiving and issuing library books and borrowed materials.
  • Check-in and out library materials.
  • Ascertains library authorization of students and university staff.
  • Conducts regular library stock counts to ensure that all books, materials and equipment are accounted for.
  • Maintaining order and safeguarding library materials.
  • Undertakes User Needs Assessments.
  • Undertakes information literacy.
  • Actively engage the academic community to ensure effective support to teaching, learning and research.
  • Compiles quarterly and annual reports.

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • B – degree, preferably in Library and Information Science or related field.
  • Two (2) years working experience in an institution of higher learning or a similar institution.
  • Broad working knowledge and understanding of library and information science.
  • Proficient in library e-resource training will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in library management systems will also be an added advantage.
  • Ability to develop and empower others is also an added advantage.

1 X LECTURER (sustainable ocean & aquaculture management)
(COASTAL CAMPUS)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and stimulate learning in Sustainable Ocean & Aquaculture Management.
  • Supervise research, and undertake research and other tasks related to these positions at postgraduate level.
  • Maintenance and improvement of academic standards.
  • Publications in refereed journals and books.
  • Curriculum development.

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • A PhD in Sustainable Ocean & Aquaculture Management or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience.
  • Must be computer literate.

1 X LECTURER (Maritine & Port Management) (COASTAL CAMPUS)

  • Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and stimulate learning in Maritime and Port management.
  • Supervise research and undertake research and other tasks related to these positions at postgraduate level.
  • Maintenance and improvement of academic standards.

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • A Master’s Degree in Maritime and Port Management, Transport and Logistics, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience.
  • Must be computer literate.

1 X LECTURER (Pre and Junior primary education) (COASTAL CAMPUS)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and stimulate learning in Taxonomy.
  • Supervise research and undertake research and other tasks related to these positions at postgraduate level.
  • Maintenance and improvement of academic standards.
  • Publications in refereed journals and books.
  • Curriculum development.

APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • A master’s degree in education with a specialisation in Early Childhood Education, Pre- and Junior Primary Education, or Curriculum Studies or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience.
  • Must be computer literate.

1 X ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (Eenhana CAMPUS)
