IUM invites applications for the following positions:
DORADO CAMPUS – WINDHOEK
1 X Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor: Actuarial Mathematics
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaching Actuarial Mathematics and other applied Mathematics Courses to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the above fields of study.
- Assisting with placement of students for internships in industry.
- Active participation in curriculum development, reviews and revisions.
- Mentoring upcoming academic staff in teaching, research, community engagement and publications.
- Participate in offering Short Courses to upskill practitioners in the financial sector.
- Taking a leading role in formulating and executing the research agenda of the Department.
APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
- PhD in Actuarial Mathematics. Holders of PhD in Applied Mathematics with specialisation in Actuarial Science or Financial Mathematics may be considered.
- At least 5 years’ experience in lecturing Actuarial Mathematics or Financial Mathematics at university level.
- Track record of student supervision and scholarly publications.
- Leadership experience at any level of university structures and evidence of service to the community.
- Record of traceable industry partners and/or collaborators, particularly in the financial sector, is an added advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaching Afrikaans Language Education modules in the new curriculum and old curriculum from first year to fourth year for the Diploma in Pre/Junior Primary and Bachelor of Education in Pre/Junior Primary Honours.
- The candidate should be able to apply ICT skills in teaching and learning.
APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
- A honours Bachelor’s Degree in Education majoring in Afrikaans, with at least five (5) years teaching experience of Afrikaans which should be at Primary School level.
- A master’s Degree and Lecturing experience will be an added advantage.
- Curriculum development.
- Maintenance and improvement of academic standards.
