

About the Centre
Established in 2021, the Centre for Distance and e-Learning (CDeL) was established to address the evolving needs of students and leverage technological advancements in education. Our mission is to deliver flexible, accessible, and high-quality educational opportunities to students around the globe.
The Centre’s main objective is to make university education accessible to all in Namibia and beyond (including SADC and the world at large). The Centre leverages the university e-Learning platform (IUM -LMS), Multimedia technologies, and expertise to facilitate online teaching and learning. Regular evaluations will be conducted to ensure that the Centre’s programs meet the expectations of stakeholders, including students, the National Council for Higher Education, and the Namibian Qualification Authority. These evaluations will also ensure that courses and programs remain up to date with societal and technological trends.
CDeL offers various innovative programs online to fit your busy lifestyle, allowing you to balance your studies with work, family, and other commitments. Our courses are delivered by experienced and qualified facilitators dedicated to creating engaging and interactive learning experiences. Ranging from certificates to masters, the Centre for Distance and e-Learning housed different qualifications from different faculties such as Faculties of education, Strategic Management and Business Administration, Environment and Sustainable Tourism, Information and Communication Technology, Centre for Improved Institutional Performance (CIIP), and the Centre for Language and Communication.

CDeL Director Biography
Dr. Alpha Ndeunyema is an accomplished scholar and educational leader specializing in educational technology and digital learning. She is a Director of the Centre for Distance and E-Learning (CDeL), where she is responsible for advancing the institution’s digital learning strategy, online course development, and technology- enhanced pedagogy.
Dr. Ndeunyema holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education with a specialization in Educational Technology from the University of Cape Town (UCT), she also hold a Master’s in Educational Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from UCT, Bachelor of Education Honours from UCT and a Bachelor in Education
(majoring in Accounting and Economics) from the University of Namibia (UNAM). She also holds a certificate in e-learning and has extensive expertise in instructional design, mobile learning, and AI integration in education.
Since joining IUM in 2015 as a Lecturer in the Department of Strategic Management at Ongwediva Campus, Dr. Ndeunyema has demonstrated academic leadership across various capacities. In 2017, she transitioned to the Faculty of Education at Dorado Campus and was subsequently appointed as Head of Department (Secondary) in 2018. She served as Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2019 until her appointment as Director of CDeL in 2024, where she has been instrumental in driving digital transformation and distance education initiatives.
As the founder of CDeL in 2020, Dr. Ndeunyema has overseen its expansion, introducing online accredited qualifications, modernizing the Moodle platform, and integrating artificial intelligence and emerging technologies into online education. Her efforts are dedicated to improving accessibility, flexibility, and quality in distance learning while driving innovation in teaching and learning methodologies. Dr. Ndeunyema’s research interests include mobile learning, digital pedagogy,teacher training in ICT, and the intersection of AI and education. She has contributed to scholarly discourse through research publications, including a co-authored paper on mobile learning pedagogy for pre-service teachers. Through her expertise in digital learning and academic leadership, Dr. Ndeunyema continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of distance education and technology-enhanced learning at IUM and beyond.
The Coordinator’s Biography
Charles George is the Coordinator for the Centre for Distance and eLearning at the International University of Management. He has been with the Centre since 2022, initially serving as an Assistant Coordinator and Facilitator. His dedication to advancing online education and leveraging technology in learning environments has been pivotal in enhancing the Centre’s offerings and services.
Mr. George holds a Master’s degree in ICT in Education from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), where he is also currently pursuing his PhD in the same field. His academic background is further strengthened by a Certificate in Research Methodology from UJ and an Honours degree in Education from the University of Namibia.
Before transitioning into academia, Mr. George was an educator since 2018, gaining valuable experience and insight into the educational needs and challenges of students. His commitment to education and continuous professional development underscores his belief in the transformative power of technology in learning.
Mr. George is passionate about creating accessible and innovative online learning experiences that empower students and educators alike. His ongoing research and practical expertise drive his mission to advance the quality and reach of distance and e-Learning at the International University of Management.
